Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change

During the summer of 2019 I attained a scholarship to attend the prestigious Salzburg Academy.

Joining over 70 students and scholars from across the world we worked towards finding solutions to the crisis of distrust in the media.

The annual 3-week Academy builds digital literacies and engagement around critical challenges for society.

Expert-led lectures, cultural tours of Salzburg and Gosau, a visit to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, as well podcasting workshops from Public Radio Exchange (PRX)  are some of the highlights that gave a rich and diversified experience and lessons around leadership, media, journalism.

One of the stand-out lectures was from Bangladeshi photographer and Salzburg Global Fellow, Shahidul Alam, delivered the Bailey Morris-Eck Lecture. Alam reminded us that “giving up” was not a “luxury” anyone could afford. Alam's story truly inspired me to pursue a career as a foreign correspondent to fight for a better world.
